INOUYE ANNOUNCES $194.7 MILLION FOR HAWAII DEFENSE PROJECTS

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- United States Senator Daniel K. Inouye announced today that the Senate Committee on Appropriations approved $194.7 million for various Hawaii defense initiatives. These projects are included in the Fiscal Year 1998 U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Appropriations Bill.

"I am pleased that the Committee recognized the strategic importance of Hawaii by appropriating funds for these defense initiatives of importance to our nation. These programs will serve our military and have a critical impact on Hawaii's economy," stated Senator Inouye.

Senator Inouye secured funding for these DoD programs of interest to Hawaii:

PACIFIC MISSILE RANGE FACILITY (PMRF)


The Fiscal Year 1998 DOD Appropriations Bill will now go to the full Senate for consideration. It will then face a joint House-Senate Conference and final Senate vote before its transmittal to the White House.
