FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye mourns the passing of Reverend Abraham Akaka. He commented as follows:

"This is a sad day for Hawaii. We have lost our great kahu -- our teacher -- who has served us as a living message of peace, love, and aloha.

"Hawaii will miss him, but we can honor his legacy by dedicating ourselves to adding a bit more aloha in our daily lives."
