INOUYE ANNOUNCES HOUSE-SENATE CONFERENCE APPROVES $196.3 MILLION FOR HAWAII DEFENSE PROJECTS

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- United States Senator Daniel K. Inouye announced that the House-Senate Conference on Defense appropriations approved $196.3 million for various Hawaii defense initiatives.

"I am pleased that the Conferees recognized the strategic importance of Hawaii by appropriating funds for these defense initiatives of importance to our nation. These programs will serve our military and have a critical impact on Hawaii's economy," stated Senator Inouye.

Senator Inouye secured funding for these defense programs of interest to Hawaii:

PACIFIC MISSILE RANGE FACILITY (PMRF)


Upon final approval by the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, the Fiscal Year 1998 DOD Appropriations Bill will be transmitted to the White House to await President Clinton's signature.
