Constituent Services

How can I help?

Constituent Assistance
I am honored to serve the people of Hawaii in the United States Senate.  As one of your federal representatives, I may be able to assist you in resolving a problem you are having with a federal government agency.  Please send a detailed letter to my Honolulu office describing your problem, the agency involved and any other pertinent information related to your situation.  In addition, you will need to download and complete the Privacy Act release form to authorize me to act on your behalf.  Click here to download form.  Mail or fax your letter, along with the signed authorization form and other information to my Honolulu office.

Flag Requests
One of the services I provide to Hawaii constituents is the opportunity to have a flag flown over the United States Capitol. You can obtain a flag by filling out a request form and mailing it, along with proper payment, to my office. (Sorry, I cannot accept flag requests via e-mail.) A flag certificate will accompany the flag verifying that the flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol. This certificate will also contain information provided by you when you fill out the form below as to whom and when the flag was flown.

Tours
Welcome to Washington and to the United States Senate. As America's capital city, Washington represents the governmental and political center of our nation. But it is also the center of major cultural facilities, historical sites, and a city of much natural beauty.   I will never forget my first glimpse of the Capitol. This majestic building continues to be awe-inspiring for me every day that I see it. I hope that you will have the opportunity to visit the Capitol and to call upon my office in the Hart Senate Office Building.

Academy Nominations
I have the honor of nominating young men and women from Hawaii for selection to four of our nation's service academies:

  • U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland
  • U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado
  • U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York
  • U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York

The number of vacancies at each academy vary yearly.  A strong academic background, participation in school and community activities, and a sincere desire to receive an active duty commission are some of the major considerations in the selection process. Additionally, for appointments to the academies, each individual must be able to pass the military medical entry examination and physical proficiency test.

Internships & Pages
Senate Programs are designed to offer young people the opportunity to serve within the United States Senate as Pages or as Interns within my office.   Placement is limited so please be prompt and follow all the instructions and submit all the required documentation.
